Today was one of the coolest days at work ever! Yeah, I say that and we've had the president of Mitsubishi Motors North America at our store 3 times in the last year now.

For a couple months now I've been some-what jokingly pestering my managers to get us a 311RS Evo for the show floor. One day, they actually took me seriously and contacted Ryan Gates.

Ryan stopped by today to talk to our manager about getting a 311RS Evo. For those of you not familiar Ryan Gates or the 311RS Evo, Ryan is a local guy who did time attack driving for AMS in their Evo X. He's now moved on to driving Audi's I think.

He and AMS have partnered together to create the 311RS Evo. There will be 11 in production. Four of these will be sold by dealer, one in the Midwest, one in the south, one in the east and one in the west. He is personally interviewing each of the dealership to make sure they are a good fit for the car. A lot of Mitsubishi dealers don't stock/sell that many Evo's (for a number of reasons). He wants to make sure that we "protect the name."

So, being that we're the largest Mitsu dealer in the Upper Midwest (MN, IA, NS, SD, WI), we have three people including our GM who drive Evos, and sell 4-6 of them a month, I'm extremely excited at the possibility that we could get the one for the Midwest.

Full details about the car are available at http://www.311rs.com

I'd expect you guys to be a shoo-in. Under the safe assumption that you're getting it. let me know when it's showing up, I'll gladly take the day off and come up there with my camera. :p

West will obviously be South Coast, South undoubtedly Don Herring. Are there really any big Mitsu dealers out East?

Yeah, there's a place in Florida that sells a shit load of them. Not really sure that's the "East" but there's not a lot of others in the upper north east that sell that many.

It might not be Don Herring. West Loop in San Antonio is consistently #1 or 2 in the nation each month for all mitsu sales. And they're generally fighting it out with Mission Mitsu also in San Antonio, followed twice this year by White Bear Mitsu!

Don Herring is a shoo-in IMO because of their levels of customer service toward Evo owners. Sales should matter less than that, or they would to me in Ryan's case. The fact that I've not heard about the San Antonio dealers but consistently hear GOOD things about Don Herring kinda make that cut and dry.
