A little history on the Sport 190…

Developed for the dedicated track fan and for fully-fledged motorsport applications, the Elise Sport 190 is pure racer. Released in very limited quantities (>60 units), only 26 of these were shipped to the U.S. with a custom left hand drive configuration.

Originally equipped with a highly modified Rover VHPD 1.8L DOHC K-Series 4-Cylinder with a modified head and VVT technology, it produced 190bhp (142 kW; 193 PS) vs. the 118bhp delivered in the base Elise. It was also equipped with a competition-standard suspension, closer-ratio gearbox, headlamp covers, rear-spoiler, cross-drilled brake discs, alloy window winders and 6-spoke road wheel design with competition Yokohama ADVAN A048 Tires.

Standard equipment on the Sport 190 is a RAC-approved competition roll-bar, lightweight plexiglass windows (glass windscreen), FIA-approved competition seat, mounting and six-point safety harness, battery master switch assembly, small competition battery, competition towing eye & oil cooler.

This particular model also came equipped with a passenger seat, four-point safety harness, plumbed-in fire extinguisher, metallic paint, driving lamps and an extensive list of Lotus Sport original performance products.

    Is this car Street-Legal?

No. When these cars were imported to the U.S., they were considered track-only vehicles. In fact, they have no VIN number and/or Title, but rather a S/N. This car basically just has a receipt indicating (1) Race Car. When I bought the car, it was licensed in Florida, but I’ve not attempted to register the vehicle here in Minnesota. That said, I do have a friend with the same-type car (Lotus/Honda) here in Minneapolis. He registered his as a kit car and drives it on the street.
