Bristol Motor Speedway to host world's largest college football game? [w/video]

NASCAR and college football are equally huge in the South, but both worlds will converge in 2016 when the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech are scheduled to play in the infield of the Bristol Motor Speedway. According to ESPN, the game will likely be played on September 10, 2016, and it could draw as many as 160,000 fans to the game - the current record for attendance at a college football game is 115,109, the attendance figure from this season's match-up between the University of Michigan and Notre Dame played at Michigan Stadium.

As shown in the image above, the short-track layout of Bristol is already pretty close to ideal for a crowd to watch a football game. Better yet, the track is almost exactly the halfway point between Knoxville, TN and Blacksburg, VA (110 miles northeast of UT and 125 miles southwest of Va. Tech), which would make it easy for fans of both schools to attend. There have been no official announcements from NASCAR, the NCAA or either school about this game, but it says a "major announcement" is planned for Monday October 14.
