Forum Layout

So its been discussed that the forum needs a little reworking structure wise. Please use this thread as a suggestion box as to what you think we should change it to. Nothing is going to be changed until we have a final layout in mind however.

 

Why not just shorten the list of makes and models of cars to just the make of the car that way the list is smaller and there is less clutter and no car is left out.

 

Thats kind of the feeling I had too, and maybe expand them in sub forums when we are large enough to deem it necessary.

 

That or just give them each a couple of sub forums like...

Subaru-
-Technical Help
-Mods/upgrades
Nissan-
-Technical Help
-Mods/Upgrades

Then have a global Subforum for Universal things like wheels,paint,shiftknobs,pictures,videos,build threads etc etc...

That way you can still have sub forums for individual makes but still be able to have a place for other things that can apply to all cars such as "where is a good place to paint my subanishonyota?"

 

Do it like 7club? Techincal, non technical?

I like the idea of the global universal forums. It makes more sense than breaking them up for every car in my opinion, and keeps things looking full.

We are for sure pulling the lounge forum out of every car subforum and making it a global forum.

 

Yeah kind of like 7club maybe even just simplify it to Technical and Other for each family of makes and then the Global Universal forum w/subforums

shit like that, we don't need to really split it up by make and model and such

 

Joelle wants the forum to be a go to type of thing when you are looking for car help/advice. So it needs to be easy to navigate and easy to find what you need, thus why its so divided up at the moment. We really need to find a balance between the two, being divided up, and everything together.

My two cents was that we should make it more generalized at this point since the forum is just starting out. That was the forum looks nice and full and its easier for us to grow together, rather than all divided up into subforums. Then later down the road, when its needed, we could divide it back up if need be.

 

wouldn't it be easier to leave it all divided up as it is now? otherwise after making everything 'general' it will need to be sorted through and placed accordingly when we divide it back up at a later point.

 

True, but most people are going to see the forum as it is now, and either say what a fustercluck or what a dead forum lol

I mean by all means we could leave it as it is, but I don't think theres even enough of a car scene to fill these sections up. I mean how many 240Z's do you see running around?

Shes already communicated though that nothing is going to change until we have a forum layout decided on for sure because its a pain to change it around.
