Okay, I'll try to piece together my car thus far with this thread. Please forgive as the pictures are lacking, but I'll do my best!

I have a 1998 Volkswagen GTI VR6 Driver's Edition in Cool White, I bought her back in 2007 and she's been a gem. The main goal with this car is a daily driver, than can triple out as both a weekend racer as well as not look horribly out of place at shows.

My first "mod" to Elias (Yes, her name is Elias) was a Hofele Edition 4 grill from TMTuning, along with a door chime delete and a Tectonics plug & play chip.

Soon after, the I caught "the bug" and several other things came for the car. Soon an H&R Cup Kit, powdercoated wheels, tail lights, and a few other minor things were added.

Then after that, in 2009, I decided the cup kit wasn't enough. So off it went, to be replaced by V-maxx coilovers. Along with this came a true 2.9L euro manifold and throttle body, and I also found a sweet passenger side fender on craigslist. It had a functional intake scoop molded in, so I snagged it up. Little did I know, this would become a signature piece on my car.

This is when my wheel whoring started. Any VW owner knows, that a owning a modified VW, usually several sets of wheels come with it. I picked up a set of MK4 "Santa Monica" 17's on the cheap, and the came to help the cars image immensely.

As any MK3 owner knows, rust is an issue that plagues the cars. Especially on the golf/gti hatches. I'd tried to keep the rusty hatch out of the photos as much as possible, bu it was clearly a growing cancer on the car. I remedied this with a clean hatch, that happened to have the badge and wipers shaved, as well as a MK2 recess welded in.

I also added a 28mm rear sway bar to help it do this:

Then along came 2010. Along with that came many many parts. I'd decided hat while being a great product for the price, the v-maxx coilover setup wasn't quite what I was looking for. I was getting more into autocross, and wanted to start doing track days. So I opted for something a bit more aggressive; KW Variant 2 Coilovers. Along with this came Corbeau CR-1 seats and harnesses, a Momo Jet steering wheel, and a new "race" wheel and tire setup. While there are a lot of options for wheels and tires, I needed something decently cost effective, light, and sticky. My end result came with 15x8 Rota Slipstreams (bring on the flame), and 225/45 Nitto NT-01 tires. Needless to say, I was VERY impressed with this entire setup.

Remember at the beginning when I stated the ideal purpose for this car? I can happily say that it accomplished this in 2010 at the MAP Proving Grounds. Not only did I take home the hardware for my class in the time attack event, Elias also took home hardware for "Best Euro" in the auto show involved at the event.

Also, being the wheel whore I am, I had a couple other sets run throughout the year. Mainly used were Audi TT "Fat Fives", however I started re-building an old set of Volk GR-Cs as well.

Might I note, that while my time line for parts may be a bit off, somewhere in this mess other parts were added also, including:
    European headlight switch
    Depo Powerlook Headlights
    European VR6 from lip
    Stickers
    Spacers of varying thickness
    BFI Delrin Motor/trans mounts
    2.5" catless exhaust
    B&M short shifter

As for future plans, I'll leave you with this.

Kinda cool to see one of the "story" behind the car. Not many VWs I actually like, but this one does the trick... Mostly because you actually drive it, but also because it's a clean build.

I do have one question though. When you mentioned your trunk replacement, you said it had a MK2 recess. What the hell is that? lol

Thanks! As far as the recess goes, it means that the License Plate Tub has been cut out of a MK2 golf/gti and welded into MK3 hatch to give it a different and more "euro" look.
