well, here's my car. I bought it used from Morries Mazda on February 11th 2010. it's my 2005 velocity red mica Mazda 3 hatchback. honestly, I wouldn't deal with them ever again. When I first got my car it had 4 different tires on it, all worn differently. They were nice enough to throw another set on there within a couple of days but put on tires with about 50% tread on them. Then after the summer when I wore those tires out, I went back to get new ones because one of the parts of their whole "buy happy" program that I paid extra for is a tire replacement. Long story short, there was a lot of driving back and forth talking with stupid people to finally get new tires. ANYWAY, the day I brought her home she looked like this. The first thing I did to her was paint my badges and engine cover if you want to know how to do it properly, here's a DIY http://www.mngaragegeeks.com/forum/...-to-Paint-Emblems-the-Right-Way&p=425#post425 this is what they looked like when they were all done and this is what my engine cover looked like after some paint I ended up painting most of my engine bay like that, but apparently I never took a picture of it. another things I did right off the bat was get rid of that stupid front license plate box and relocated my plate. a link to how to do that is there here http://www.mngaragegeeks.com/forum/showthread.php?58-Relocate-Your-License-Plate&p=426#post426 this is what it looks like now, minus the Morries Mazda stuff the next thing I did was, well, I hated the stupid R/C car looking antenna, so since I never used it, I cut it while waiting for my shark fin here it is cut and here it is with the shark fin antenna I bought that from therpmstore here http://www.therpmstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=213_25&products_id=294 the next things I did was add the Mazda logo onto my brake calipers and painted my little steering wheel control things this is what my calipers look like and a link to how I did it here http://www.mngaragegeeks.com/forum/...t-the-Mazda-Logo-on-My-Calipers&p=427#post427 and what my steering wheel control things look like one last and simple thing I did to my car cosmetically was tinted my side markers it was as easy as spraying down a couple coats of night shade and I was done and link to that here http://www.mngaragegeeks.com/forum/...ted-Side-Markers-and-Reflectors&p=428#post428 that was pretty much all the cosmetic things I did right away. the thing I tackled next was my lights. the first thing I did was get a set of HIDs from the RPM store here http://www.therpmstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=213_25&products_id=38 and they made a world of difference then I made my fog lights independent which you can do too here (link to come later) and then I painted my fog light surrounds and my fog lights. my fog lights where painted with yellow/amber stained glass window spray paint. that idea was all Joelle's after painted my surrounds black, this is what they looked like and this is how I roll at night I also disabled my running lights in the process and they still work as blinkers, a link to how you can do that here, it's really easy (link to come later) I put in an AUX input thing in, but not the one from Mazda, a link to the one you should get here (link to come later) The last thing I think I did to my car before moving to Washington for school was getting my rims powder coated. A buddy of mine knew a guy and I got a great deal this is what the look like off the car and this is what they look like on the car I did paint my center caps as well so everything's black except for the Mazda emblem and the lug nuts on my wheels which I don't exactly have a picture of, but new ones are to come this summer since I've been out in Washington, I haven't done a whole lot I did pick up a wink mirror at oriely's and a link to how to install that in a mz3/ms3 is here http://www.mngaragegeeks.com/forum/showthread.php?61-How-To-Install-a-Wink-Mirror&p=429#post429 i picked up some LED lights for my interior and lights for my rear license plate from corksport http://www.corksport.com/corksport-led-light-kit-2004-2009-mazdaspeed-3-and-mazda-3.html they look really blue in this picture but this is what they look like and my exhaust underwent a make over I picked up speed 3 pipes and got my hands on a magna flow high flow cat and this is what it sounds like now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZEyUo657-E and looks like This is what she looks like now UPDATE: 7/9/2012 So it's been a while since I updated this. I think it's been over a year actually. well here's a small update. So last summer, many of you know, my transmission died. My 3rd gear synchro went out and I ended up getting a used transmission with 30k miles on it and while that was getting replaced, I picked up a exedy stage 1 clutch and light weight flywheel I managed to repaint my foglights and foglight surrounds since they had a ton of rock chips in them from the drive to and from Washington. Towards the end of the summer I ended up picking up a set of 1993 RX-7 FD wheels with Hoosier R6s on them. I rocked them for about a week til I killed what remained of the tires. Shortly after I went back to school, at the Corksport end of summer bash last year, I broke my e-brake cable while parking on a hill. it was great. and then not to long after that I ended up doing some work on my brakes. here's the e-brake cable, corksport stainless brake lines, r1 concept drilled and slotted rotars, and centric pads. (the e-brake cable still hasn't been replaced) I threw in an amp and sub too, but I don't have pictures of those. maybe I'll update this later with pictures and such. Right before heading back to MN for the summer, I picked up a set of Tein S-Tech springs from a buddy of mine, but due to school I wasn't able to get them installed before I left. when I got back to MN i noticed one of my tires were showing chords, which wasn't good. So it was time for a new wheel/tire set up. I got my RX-7 wheels painted white, I got BFG sport comp 2 tires, black lug nuts, and I got my car lowered on those springs I had. (need to update with more pics) I ran into a problem with one of my control arm bushings and I have yet to replace that, and I also got my camber arms installed not to long ago. I got an alignment I threw on the free rallyarmor mud flaps I got from a buddy of mine out in Washington, and now this is what my car looks like today and this because why not lol (lol instagram) WOO UPDATE!: 7-24-13 So a lot has changed since last summer. it's almost been a year since I've updated this. I'll add pictures when I get the chance, they'll all on my phone currently So a lot of you know the story about my broken motor mounts, but for those who don't, let me paint you a picture. Imagine 4 dudes, in a mazda 3, with Hoosier street slicks, at a dead stop. Now imagine it being revved to 4k and then having the clutch dropped. Yea, the motor pretty much hit the underside of my hood. any way, that broke all 3 motor mounts (BIG SURPRISE!) and in the fall, I replaced the rear one not knowing the other two were gone as well. this is what one of my old motor mounts was like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqLsqkJfK9w&index Ironically enough, the free reallyarmor mud flaps I got from a friend of mine out in Washington, got ripped off one night when backing down his mountain of a driveway. (insert picture here) I was also able to snag a hatch cover thing for pretty cheap In the spring, I went on a little spending spree with my tax refund. I bought the other two motor mounts, rear sway bar, coilovers, intake, and rear sway bar end links. All of the motor mounts are StreetUnit motor mounts the rear sway bar is Hotchkis the coilovers are BC BR coilovers the Intake is an AEM cold air intake and the rear sway bar end links are from Corksport. I got all that put on and got a good alignment. the really fun part about installing my coilovers is that when I went to go bolt in the top of one of the rear struts, it snapped the bolt completely in half. the problem with that is that, that bolt was welded to the chasis from inside. I attempted to drill it out but no luck, after about an hour or two of frustration, I hit it with a hammer and it popped out. easy enough I guess. I replaced it and it's all good now. after all that was squared a way, I went a while without doing anything other then maintenance to it. this summer though, I've done a few things to it. I curbed a wheel which wasn't good, I bought a header (which isn't in yet) and I got my roof wrapped in gloss black here's a link to the album of more pictures of my wrapped roof from the guy who did it, Mark Wu over at Wu Wraps does great work https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.482541931831541.1073741925.109879845764420&type=3 (I hope facebook doesn't break this link in the future) I also have something on it's way to my house right now and should be waiting for me when I get home early next week! That's pretty much everything up to now, like I said, I'll update this with pictures later. also I realize there are quite a few broken picture links because facebook decided to change things. so i'll be moving those pictures and update those as well.
