Looking for some option on SRI/CAI options for the tC. GF is considering putting on some bolt ons on her tC.

Yeah, I haven't seen many either. Exhaust and a SRI/CAI is on the list, just want something reputable. I'm always leery about Injen products. I'll take a look at the K&N intake. She also is interested in the Scion intake because it doesn't void warranty, but $475! seems ridiculous.

TBH, anything beyond a drop in isn't going to produce meaningful gains/benefits relative to what it's going to cost for an NA tC.

And I agree about Injen, cheap ricer mods.

    That said, I have a K&N, give it a nice sound :)

Talk to the Scion dealership when worrying about your warranty. Typically mods will not void your warranty UNLESS the dealership can prove that a certain mod is what caused your issue. And then that particular issue is just not covered.

I had plenty of mods on my car and still took it in for warranty work :) I asked them once when I took it in. I think that is a MN standard on warranties, but I'm not positive.

Bobby can detail how a manfufacturer warranty works in the auto industry, but long story short, they can't VOID your warranty. They can however deny certain claims based on certain mods.

Nam ran some sort of CAI on his TC. If I remember right he eventually took it off, because of rain issues.

Only thing you have to remember about K&N filters is they need a few hours to dry before you oil them.

I switched from my K&N to be HKS mushroom for this reason.

HKS mushrooms also have a tendency to make all kinds of awesome noises even in N/A setups.

That's actually Federal Trade Commission standards. You can't outright void a warranty. You also can't deny a claim unless you can prove that the reason for the failure is a result of a) aftermarket parts b) misuse c) abuse. Individual claims can be denied. Once a claim is denied (say a power train claim) due to mods then it is very easy to deny any subsequent ones (giving the "appearance" or a voided warranty).

But take my car for example, my car still has a warranty for things like say my window stops working. It has nothing to do with engine mods. This would still be covered under warranty.

I like the T-Shirt that says I void warranties.

Thanks all. I'm still trying to find a great setup. I think the HKS mushroom is on my list. I'm just poor. lol

The HKS Mushroom is never a bad choice. I'll be running an AEM Dryflow this year, I'm fucking done with oiled filters.

I got my HKS used for like half price. Look around. The filter can be replaced and you are good :)
