What would be preventing the transmission from shifting into anything other then 3rd and 4th gear? I can only go from 3rd-neutral-4th I have zero side to side movement.

cable linkages, or some thing in the way of the shift mech on the out side of the transmission. aka the ms3 has a item on the top of the transmission that a cold air intake can get in the way of, thus not letting you change gear. look at all the lines that go to your shift box first since that is something you have added since the build.

Do you think this could be the issue

I chipped/cut away at the melted casing and was eventually able to get the shifter to move left and right, its far from a smooth action but it does go left and right. The damaged cable is defiantly the one that is for the left and right movement. Is my logic flawed to think then, that the cable is the issue?

I think my next step should be to try and get some used RSX cables, replace the damaged cable and see if that makes a difference

ok really, not everything that goes wrong with my car is Full Blown fault, shit happens. I am the one that changed out the RSX sifter box that they put in, in favor of the Hybrid-racing box. I ordered new cables and will throw them in, it will be a bitch and I am not really looking forward to doing it but there is no reason to bring it to Full Blown to change them out.

Agreed and modded :) As we have asked others, please don't hawk on shops without the whole story or proof. Sounds like he knows how it happened and feel free to let us know if you need any help once your parts come in Geoff :)

Thanks Eric for the heads up on the DEI heat shield. I am defiantly going to pick that up so I am not running into this issue again

A update on the transition. Its working great. I had ordered a OEM RSX bracket and looking at it thought it would not work. While my brother had a look at it and he figured out with very miner cutting of the bracket it would bolt right up! he also re routed the lines a much better way then FB or I had so they actually go away from the exhaust. With the heat shield these cables should be golden for a long time
