Probably best to just call me Spaz, it fits, trust me.

My dusty-ass oil splattered car is a 2003 Evo VIII. It was nice and reliable until I ran it at MAP Proving Grounds, at which point I toasted the clutch and popped the head gasket. And now it's got rod knock after fixing those. Probably best to leave it alone for a while and just drive and enjoy it.

I'd copy over a mod list but it's kinda long and unimportant beyond 3 simple points: Basic power supporting mods, E85 and adequate fueling, and now cams and an incoming beefed up bottom end. Last I had it on a dyno it made 308 @ DB Performance at 4psi less than what it's running now.

RS in Burnsville is doing the motor, I'm tired of tearing into this thing and just need it done and driveable.

Glad to have you aboard! Proving Grounds seems to be good at taking out engines :p Ours is being rebuilt this winter also on the Miata.

Hope to see you out at Weds!

Turns out coolant went through a few of the bearings in the bottom end and that's what did it. Never saw any noticeable oil contamination but oh well, you live and learn. Picking up parts tomorrow and getting them down to Ron, hopefully see the car back soon. With everything I'm replacing should be like a brand new motor when it goes back in and hopefully lasts longer than 73k.

Weekly meets, we'll see, I usually have plans on Wednesday nights, but I'll make it when I can.

Good quote to live by... If it breaks, that means it just needs to be upgraded with something better :)

That's how I've treated every car I've ever owned. When I blew the turbo on my old 2G DSM, it got a 16G, when the alternator went, I swapped in a higher amperage Galant alt, when the stock intercooler end tank lost sealing, I went to an FMIC, etc.

This car's been no different, albeit with a little more emphasis on modding to mod because of how well the car responds vs money spent.
